July 1, 2024 – Mark Twain House – Connecticut

Today, Wilma, Gus and I Adventured to the Mark Twain House in Hartford, Connecticut. Mark Twain was the author of many famous books including: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer. Mark Twain was his pen name, while is birth name was Samuel Clemens. Mark Twain and his wife Livy had their home built in 1984. The home measures 11500 square feet and has 25 rooms. They later sold the home in 1903. The grounds also contain gardens, maintained by the University of Connecticut Master Gardeners and volunteers.

We had a unique Adventure to the Mark Twain house, one of our four adventures of the day. As you may expect this Adventure just included the gardens, and grounds as I am sure the museum was not dog friendly. The home was located in a beautiful area of Hartford. The sun was shining, and the sky bright blue, just a perfect way to start our day. The home was absolutely gorgeous and quite unique with character. I was disappointed that the sun’s location impacted some of the photography of the building, however, hopefully you can still get an idea of what a distinctive residence Twain created. There were endless lilies and some little paths and trails around the home. The pups enjoyed walking around, Wilma appreciated some rolling down the hill (yes really -haha), and Gus was trying to figure out some of the new city sounds. And although we were not able to go inside, I was still excited to check out this home I had been curious about for some time. So glad we could visit the home of Mark Twain today (this blog will not be rated).
