October 31, 2026 – A day in Connecticut

Today, Wilma, Gus, and I adventured to Connecticut for a daytrip. We spent most of our time in New London, Haddam, and Salem. We started off at Gillette State Park, one of my favorites. We searched for the colors of Fall as the sun shined perfectly through the trees. The trails were quiet, and peaceful. I love the little bridges throughout, and the rustic fence that lined some of the trails. Gus and Wilma enjoyed walking on the wall along the pond, finding sticks, and rolling in the grass. The weather was just perfect. Unfortunately, as we did not get an early start the area around the castle was crowded so I barely got a photo before heading back to the peaceful grounds.

We then made some little stops before heading to Fort Trumbell State Park. I was thankful to find few guests; we almost had the place to ourselves! I was drawn to many colorful leaves, the dark green grass, the grand Fort. The pups enjoyed the usual rolls and appreciated a nice stroll around the Fort and grounds. We could not have asked for a better autumn day for this lovely daytrip. Wish the Fall would last forever!
