October 27, 2023 – Kinsman Falls – New Hampshire

Today, Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to Kinsman Falls in the Franconia Notch State Park in New Hampshire. Kinsman Falls is found about .5 miles onto the Basin-Cascades Trail. Kinsman Falls is a narrow Falls about 20 feet in height, which into a deep pool below.

We had a gorgeous Adventure to Kinsman Falls. I thought I had blogged about it before but must have included it a larger category post so decided to blog about it individually today. Kinsman Falls is probably one of my favorite Falls, although small it’s unique and is in a gorgeous location. We walked through the muddy trails, exploring the rocky cascades and other waterfalls as we walked uphill on the trails to the Falls. Upon arrival it was a steep trail down, but we made it! It was actually harder to make our way closer to the waterfall as the rocks were a little hard to navigate, especially with two leashed dogs. However, we managed safely and enjoyed the closest view we could get. We did not stay too long as it was hard to find a comfortable spot for all of us to rest, however enjoyed the sounds of the crashing falls.

Heading back across the rocks Wilma got stuck on a rock, unsure of where to go. I continued to encourage her to the appropriate nearby rock and eventually with some treat encouragement she made it, and we did not have an overnight adventure to Kinsman Falls (haha). Below you will see just the area of the actual Falls, (not including the trail getting there). So glad Gus could visit Kinsman Falls and Wilma and I could return to this fabulous Falls (Rating: 4).

The weekly Video/Photo section highlights an Adventure, while I might also sneak in some that are humorous, adorable, or just other fun dog moments. If you have followed my blog from the beginning you know that I adopted Shadow as a puppy, and about a year later adopted Buster as a puppy.  We had many wonderful years together before experiencing the devastating loss of Buster at just seven.  It took a long time for our hearts to heal, but almost a year after his passing we welcomed little Wilma into our world.  We were devastated to lose Shadow on April 3, 2020.These two precious boys will be furever in our hearts! We were recently thrilled to add another amazing rescue, Gus, to our home on June 28, 2021! This Weekly Video/Photo section will allow me to share photos from all four of my rescues, whether it be a precious memory, or a current moment.

Today’s photo is a snapshot of Wilma and Gus at Colt State Park earlier this month. We did not blog about this Adventure as we have before, but this photograph was the perfect one to share for today’s Weekly Video/Photo section. It was a gloomy day but these adorable still make the perfect photograph. Here they are:

October 22, 2023 – Pemaquid Point Lighthouse – Maine

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to Pemaquid Point Lighthouse in Bristol, Maine.  The Pemaquid Point Lighthouse Park is located at Pemaquid Neck. It was built in 1827 but later rebuilt in 1935, reportedly due to poor construction.  The official Park is open from May through October and includes:  an art gallery, fisherman’s museum, an art gallery, and a learning center.

We had a lovely Adventure to the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse on a rainy autumn day. I had blogged about this Lighthouse over four years ago, so thought it would be a good time to capture it again. Upon arrival we found the booth open and a cost to enter. We paid our dues, heard some information about the location, and off we went. We spent a little over an hour exploring the property. The waves were crashing in and just spectacular, roaring and grand! The Lighthouse was unique, and lovely in its own way, even while framed by a dark grey sky. Both Wilma and Gus enjoyed wandering around, Gus often thinking it was time to play, energized for the day at hand! I especially loved watching the crashing sea and searching for color on this grey day. So glad we decided to check out the Pemaquid Lighthouse again today (Rating: 4).

October 21, 2023 – Acadia National Park – Maine

Yesterday Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to Acadia National Park in Maine. Acadia National Park is a Park in Northeastern Maine that encompasses half of Mount Desert Island, and also is situated on the Schoodic Peninsula and Isle au Haut. It is 47,000 acres and popular for fall foliage seekers, winter skiing, spring fishing and hiking.

We had a gorgeous Adventure to Acadia National Park, one of my favorite, if not my favorite, place to visit in New England. I was thrilled that the weather was wrong and it did not rain until later afternoon, and there were even moments of brightness. I was planning on heading there for sunrise but between the weather report and my newest cold I decided not to wake up at an extreme moment of the morning to head out, however we will still arrived early. We enjoyed walking, beautiful scenery, climbing on the rocks, strolls on the beach, and relaxing in a our own private rock location (see video one). Gus especially loved digging at the beach, while Wilma enjoyed hopping on the highest rocks. I did not end up going to all of my favorites due to the crowds, but found several new trails, and the less traveled of our favorites. It was just a spectacular day. One of these times we will have to spend more then just a day, but it really was just right. Look forward to returning again in the future (Rating: 5).

Today’s photo is a photo of me and the boys – Shadow and Buster back in Tampa on a July hike. This is one of my favorite photographs of myself with these two amazing pups, even if the quality is not perfection. We had so many special times, and adventures. Although I wish I had a crew of four, I am thankful to have endless photographs to remember the fun we had. Here they are:

October 15, 2023 – A Fall Day In Vermont

Today, Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to Vermont. Our main destinations were: Woodstock, Plymouth, Ludlow, and Perkinsville. Much of the day was cloudy but the blue sky snuck through here and there, however the temperature was just right. I was a little disappointed as the locations we stopped were not in peak, but there were some beautiful spots along our route. Wilma and Gus loved walking through the leaves, while Wilma enjoyed some scenic rolls. So glad we could get out on a lovely Autumn Day.

October 15, 2023 – Upper Falls Covered Bridge – Vermont

Today, Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to the Upper Falls Covered Bridge in Perkinsville, Vermont, also titled the Downers Covered Bridge. The Upper Falls Covered Bridge crosses the Black River. It was originally built in 1840, and was rebuilt in 2008.

We had a lovely Adventure to the Upper Falls Covered Bridge. I have been to many covered bridges in New England, so it is always nice to discover a new one. The Upper Falls Bridge was long and high above the river. I first walked through the bridge before getting the pups out to explore the shore below. It was a very steep path down to the shore, lots of rocks, covered with leaves but somehow, I managed to keep my footing. Even as we were at the bottom there were endless rocks, and unsteady footing but Wilma and Gus found some favorite rocks, enjoyed some sips from the river, and found some sandy spots. Although the bridge was off a busy road it was in a quiet and rural area. It was really a pretty spot! So glad we could Adventure to the Upper Falls Covered Bridge today (Rating: 4)

Today’s photo is a snapshot of Shadow and Buster up in the White Mountains on a very lovely Fall day. I believe this photograph was taken the weekend before Buster passed away. We had a wonderful vacation in the White Mountains, and although we knew Buster had a terminal illness we did not know the end was so close. Special memories made, frozen into photographs like this one. Here the boys are, we sure do miss them:

October 9, 2023 – White Mountains – New Hampshire

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The White Mountains are a mountain range that cover a large part of New Hampshire, and also a portion of western Maine. The White Mountains include 48 peaks at over 4,000 feet. The White Mountains are popular for skiing, hiking, and ATVing.

We had a gorgeous Adventure to the White Mountains, one of my favorite spots in New England. Our day included Hart’s location, Bretton Woods, Lancaster, Sugar Hill, and several places in between. We walked, posed, and searched for all the colors of the season. Both Wilma and Gus enjoyed some rolls, and loved trotting through the colorful leaves. The weather was perfect, and the company was just right! Such a gorgeous day in the great outdoors (this blog will not be rated).

October 9, 2023 – Redstone Missile – New Hampshire

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to the Redstone Missile in Warren, New Hampshire. The Redstone Missile is a decommissioned missile which was utilized in the Cold War. It was installed in Warren in 1971 and has remained a landmark since that time.

We had a unique Adventured to the Redstone Missile. I had seen this landmark when researching my daytrip but decided not to formally add it in to my plans. However, we ended up driving right by it so had to get out to explore. The missile was tall and appeared to climb into the clouds. There were numerous kiosks explaining details of the Missile, but not much else besides the Missile itself. We walked around and stretched our legs, circling the missile several times. So glad we could visit the Redstone Missile today (Rating: 3.5)
