Wilma is 8!!

Today is Wilma’s 8th Birthday! We have been partying all weekend, with the finale of the events tonight (haha)! The party included dinner with Grandma and Grandpa, gifts, cake, cupcakes, cookies, and new bones. I definitely went all out! Wilma loved great company, and one of the most amazing presents from her Grandparents that I have seen – squirrels in a tree! I was quite entertained as she explored this gift. It is funny that Wilma knows what presents are and was beyond thrilled when she saw my Dad approach her with the gift – so cute! She loved her cake and devoured all of the food! Gus enjoyed some food and got to play with the toys too. I love this silly, fun days – just what the heart needed. Here are some photos and videos of the special day. Happy Birthday to my sweet girl!

Other Tidbits, Fun, and News

I hope everyone is doing well today! I wanted to update our friends, families and followers on Wilma. I am devastating to say Wilma has torn her cruciate ligament and will be needing surgery. She was diagnosed with Arthritis a bit back and I have been working on finding the best plan and medications for her to make her as happy and pain free. I decided to get a second opinion and a week or two before the appointment I noticed she was limping, and it was at that appointment we were informed that her cruciate ligament was torn. My guess is that she was compensating for her front legs as I did not see one moment this occurred. This diagnosis was separate from the Arthritis which was in her front legs.

As to be expected these items, in addition to moving, and the weather have impacted our blog. I have a surgery consult scheduled and want to make sure the weather is stable and safe for a successful recovery. We look forward to things being back to “normal” and the nicer weather to come. Please keep Wilma in your thoughts as we embark on this journey. I will have to say Buster tore his cruciate and we will be working with the same surgeon so that makes me feel hopeful and slightly less anxiety. However, it of course is not a road I was hoping to proceed down. Looking forward to being past it and on to recovery.

Gus is Four!!

Today is Gus’ Birthday – he is 4!! I cannot believe he is already four. We have been partying all weekend with a fancy cake, toys, treats, and new bones on the schedule for tomorrow. Gus has been my most cuddly pup, he is best buds with big sister Wilma, and has endless friends at daycare. His daycare even sent him a shout-out which you will see below. Gus loves exploring, stealing Wilma’s balls, and keeping me active. Gus cares for few humans but the ones he loves he loves with all his heart!! We are beyond lucky to have him in our world! He makes me smile and makes the tough days just right. Below you will find a collage of our celebration so far…although you may notice he did say no way to his adorable birthday hat (haha) Happy Birthday sweet Gus!

January 5, 2025 – Riding through History, Lexington’s Horse Art

Today, Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to Lexington, MA to walk, and photograph Lexington’s Horse Art. This initiative commemorates the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s famous ride. The goal of this art is to combine history, art, and engage the community. The four fiberglass horses are positioned throughout Lexington Center and were painted by local artists.

We had a colorful Adventure to Lexington’s Horse Art. We have seen the horses before but never have been able to put a blog together so today was the day! It was a chilly morning, and we were thankful to get an hour of walking in on this winter day. We stopped at each horse, checking out the painting and range of colors. Gus was a little nervous about these large structures, but I convinced him to pose from afar. I have always loved outdoor art, often a dog-friendly activity providing a variety on our walk. Below you will find a little collage of the colorful horses. (This blog will not be rated).

Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas to all my family, friends, and followers! We had a lovely holiday filled with family and fun! Wilma and Gus were spoiled with many toys and lots of attention! They especially enjoyed their squeaky toys, and some bites of ham (haha!) I wanted to share a little collage of our celebrations! Hope everyone had a wonderful day!

Other Tidbits, Fun, and News

Hello to all of my followers, friends, and family!! I apologize from our sudden disappearance from the blog. I was in the process of getting ready to sell my house, showing it, and buying it all at once and it was just exhausting! We are thankful that we have officially moved and although still surrounded my boxes we are settled in and getting there slowly. The pups have a bigger yard, I am closer to work, and closer to family. I should have announced a formal break from the blog as we have been focused on walking locally, but we will slowly be back. I have decided to discontinue the weekly photo, but we hope to continue new posts soon.

A couple other things that have impacted the blog, first the dog scene around us. Unfortunately, I have been disheartened to find endless dogs not under voice control, almost everywhere we go in New England. This has made it challenging and frustrating for dogs on leash, especially when encountering dogs off leash who are not friendly. I have spoken to many others who have noticed this shift. We of course will continue blogging and exploring, but this has changed the blog over time and will continue to do so as we have to plan very carefully.

Second, I am disappointed to inform you that Wilma has injured her leg. I am not sure what happened, but we are working with her veterinarian and have x-rays scheduled. Thankfully she is on medication. I am just hoping it is nothing serious and resolves quickly. On a good note, it actually seems better when she is walking so maybe we may go on a simple adventure soon, but we will see.

Soo…not sure how quickly our blogging will resume. However, for those of you that are new on here, there are endless blogs to read, just check out the menu and your categories of interest.

Hope everyone is well!

Weekly Video/Photo

The weekly Video/Photo section highlights an Adventure, while I might also sneak in some that are humorous, adorable, or just other fun dog moments. If you have followed my blog from the beginning you know that I adopted Shadow as a puppy, and about a year later adopted Buster as a puppy.  We had many wonderful years together before experiencing the devastating loss of Buster at just seven.  It took a long time for our hearts to heal, but almost a year after his passing we welcomed little Wilma into our world.  We were devastated to lose Shadow on April 3, 2020.These two precious boys will be furever in our hearts! We were recently thrilled to add another amazing rescue, Gus, to our home on June 28, 2021! This Weekly Video/Photo section will allow me to share photos from all four of my rescues, whether it be a precious memory, or a current moment.

Today’s photograph is one of Gus on a stump this weekend. The stump was quite large but the photo does not do it justice. I love posing the pups on stumps and rocks and they seem to enjoy jumping up, I guess a chance of scenery from the air (haha)! Here he is:

Endless Leaves!

This weekend we enjoyed frolicking in endless leaves (haha!) We have alot going on as My Mom is in the hospital and I am getting ready to move which is absolutely exhausting. Thankfully Mom is making progress and doing well! This weekend was filled with visiting her, local walks, and lots of packing and time in the backyard. The pups enjoyed running through the leaves, chasing each other, playing ball and of course resting and napping. Due to everything going on, I thought a good excuse for some backyard leaf photographs, even if not a “normal” adventure. Here they are:

Today’s photograph is one of Wilma chilling in the backyard. She absolutely loves playing ball so of course there is one right next to her. It is funny when I have company over she always just assumes they are there to play ball with her…why else would they be there?! (haha) This week I bought them a new squeaky ball (not the one in the photo) and she has been squeaking away (haha). Some of my pups have enjoyed ball, but she has been the most obsessed. What a great smile!! Here she is:

October 19, 2024 – Acadia National Park – Maine

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to Acadia National Park in Maine. Acadia National Park is a Park in Northeastern Maine that encompasses half of Mount Desert Island, and also is situated on the Schoodic Peninsula and Isle au Haut. It is 47,000 acres and popular for fall foliage seekers, winter skiing, spring fishing and hiking.

We had a gorgeous adventure to Acadia National Park on a perfect Fall New England day. I was so excited for our weekend away, life has been very busy and full of endless lists, making it an especially needed vacation. We stayed in our favorite place in Camden for the weekend and got up bright and early for a sunrise adventure in Acadia this morning. Upon arrival I was a little bummed to observe so many people already at the park, however, therefore was especially thankful we were early risers today. We walked along the coast as the sun was rising – just lovely. Our locations today included: the Park Loop, Jordan Pond, carriage roads, the Seawall, and many other stops amidst the park. I tried making another loop through the park later in the day, partly to capture a brighter scene then our sunrise photographs. However, could not believe the horrid crowds, so just drove through on round two and headed to our next location.

Throughout out day both pups enjoyed exploring. Wilma especially enjoyed sunbathing, while Gus appreciated diving into the long grass for whatever he always sees there, wagging his adorable tiny tail with excitement. Both Wilma and Gus appreciated some grassy rolls, rock hopping, and posing. I loved the spectacular scenery, fall colors, unbelievable weather, and even made friends with a deer. It was just a perfect day. So glad we could get back to Acadia National Park again this Fall (Rating: 5).
