Throwback Adventure- Purgatory Chasm State Reservation – Massachusetts

I have decided to return to posting new “Throwback Adventures” after taking time to re-post some of my favorites with Shadow.  This has been a therapeutic process for me to share.  We are devastated that both Shadow and Buster have both passed, but find peace knowing we can continue to remember them through our “Throwback Adventures”.  They were amazing boys and are forever in our hearts.

In August of 2014 Shadow, Buster, and I Adventured to Purgatory Chasm State Reservation in Sutton, Massachusetts. Purgatory State Park is a state owned park know for its unique geological characteristics. It features a deep chasm of granite rocks with a short trail and approximately two additional miles of trails. Purgatory Chasm is popular for rock climbing, hiking, picnicking and educational programs.

We had a rock filled Adventure to Purgatory Chasm State Reservation. I remember discovering this Park on a very warm summer day. We wandered through the chasm and appreciated the views. The terrain was a bit challenging for two large framed dogs but we did our best to explore this park. I actually stopped to visit one other time with Shadow and Wilma but was a bit spooked by the hunting signs and vacant feel. Although generally I cheer with a quiet location I am always deterred when hunting is permitted. Therefore we departed and headed on a detour Adventure. We look forward to returning and capturing a more thorough depiction of the Purgatory Chasm State Park. Definitely glad to have been able to explore with my sweet boys…endless memories to cherish (Throwback Adventures will not always be rated).
