January 15, 2023 – Sonic Wag Cup – Massachusetts

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to Sonic in Peabody, Massachusetts. Sonic is a drive-in and drive-thru American fast-food chain. The restaurant is located throughout the country, with four chains in Massachusetts.

Wilma and Gus had a delicious Adventure to Sonic where they enjoyed a scrumptious Wag Cup! We have been busy with local walks, so decided to check-out this treat at Sonic for our new Adventure of the weekend. Although I was not impressed by my food, Wilma and Gus were quite pleased with this whip-cream filled treat! The Wag Cup did not last long, but I can promise they enjoyed each and every lick (haha)! Glad they could devour a Wag Cup today! (This blog will not be rated)

January 8, 2023 – Minuteman Bikeway – Bedford, Massachusetts

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to the Minuteman Bikeway in Bedford, Massachusetts. The Minuteman Bikeway is a 10.1 mile Rail Trail that runs from Cambridge to Bedford. The Rail Trail passes through various landmarks including historic Lexington, famous for the American Revolution.

We had a simple walk to the Minuteman Bikeway, our first time exploring the Bedford portion. We parked at Depot Park and off we went, walking for approximately one hour. Wilma and Gus loved the new smells, and posing for treats, while Gus was fascinated with the ice patches along the route. The trail was enjoyed by runners, dog walkers, families, and walkers. The trail was simple, and somewhat dull, however that never dampens us enjoying a walk on a sunny winter day. So glad we could take a walk on the Minuteman Bikeway today (This blog will not be rated).

December 29, 2022 – Scusset Beach State Reservation – Massachusetts

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to Scusset Beach State Reservation in Sandwich, Massachusetts, part of Cape Cod. Scusset Beach has 1.5 miles of beachfront. The Reservation allows for camping, trails, and includes part of the Canal Path. As expected, the Reservation it is popular for swimming, fishing, and camping.

We had a wonderful Adventure to Scusset Beach State Reservation. I decided to start our journey on the Canal Path in the Park and headed toward the Beach. It was windy, but warm for a winter day, the sun shining brightly. We trotted down the Path enjoying some exercise. We have been to most if not all of the Canal Path and I would say this was one of the less scenic parts, however great for a walk. We did not see any dogs on our way to the Beach, and it was quiet overall.

Upon arrival at the Beach area, we first sighted the jetty, which paralleled a sand trail to the ocean. I debated how far to go as unfortunately the off-leash beach scene can be quite out of control, but we decided to go for it and check it out. We followed a sand trail until we arrived at the beginning of the sandy beach. The scene was just lovely, the water bright blue. There were few visitors on the beach, so we decided to go for it and off we went exploring. Both Wilma and Gus were energized by the beach digging and playing, which is a little difficult when attached to a leash, and a Mom (haha). We enjoyed some time on the beach before heading back down the Canal Trail. Overall, we spent about two hours walking and exploring. So glad we could check out Scusset Beach State Reservation today (Rating: 4).

December 10, 2022 – Fitz Hugh Lane Park – Massachusetts

Yesterday Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to Fitz Hugh Lane Park in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Fitz Hugh Lane Park includes the Fitz Hugh Lane House. This Home is a historical home built by the artist Fitz High Lane in 1849. The home is on top of a small hill providing views of the harbor.

We had a simple Adventure to Fitz Hugh Lane Park. We spent about two hours walking around Gloucester and made a stop at this park on our travels. We have been here before, but today I thought I would write a short blog about it. Upon arrival we strolled to the top and walked every inch of the location. It was a dark and dreary day out, with limited color throughout. We found a beautiful wreath, endless pinecones, plaques with information, stone benches, and a statue of Fitz Hugh Lane. Although a very small park, still a nice little stop along the route. Glad we could visit Fitz Hugh Lane Park today (This blog will not be rated).

December 4, 2022 – Saulnier Memorial Bike Trail – Massachusetts

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to the Saulnier Memorial Bike Trail in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The Saulnier Memorial Bike Trail is a 3.5 paved path that passes through the South Peninsula of New Bedford, provides views of Clark Cove, New Bedford Harbor, and Buzzards Bay, and passes landmarks including: Fort Taber Park, West Beach, East Beach, and Fort Taber Park.

We had a refreshing Adventure to the Saulnier Memorial Bike Trail. Although not the cleanest city, I have grown to love the walking opportunities and landmarks in this unique town. I was planning on beginning in Hazelwood Park but after seeing signs indicating “no dogs” we decided to park at Fort Taber Park. The map I located online was a little confusing but we traversed the majority of this Trail.

Throughout our walk I especially enjoyed the gorgeous Fort Rodman, coastal views, and lots of little details including colorful benches, endless shells, and endless breakwaters. The sun was shining brightly, just right for this early winter day. Both Wilma and Gus enjoyed exploring and walking high above the path. It was a lovely day for an outing with my two best buds (Rating: 4).

November 26, 2022 – The Scallop Shells of Plymouth, MA

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to the beautiful town of Plymouth, Massachusetts. We spent three hours walking this lovely coastal town. Plymouth is a coastal town in southern Massachusetts. It is famous for the history of being the first Pilgrim settlement in 1620. Since I have blogged about Plymouth before, yet still was inspired to share I thought I would blog about the Public Art Display of the Scallop Shells. These works of art are displayed throughout the waterfront and downtown Plymouth. They have been created from fiberglass and crafted from local artists.

We had a refreshing Adventure to Plymouth. It has been soo long since we had a “normal” Adventure, or even a local walk as I was fighting Bronchitis and some additional symptoms for over a month. I finally feel better with just a cough here and there so off we went. I absolutely love walking in Plymouth, including: the coastal scenery, a river walk with tunnel art, the grist mill, a pond with a bridge and ducks, shops and restaurants decorated for the season, and many historical landmarks. We spent three hours walking, posing, and working on our favorite holiday Christmas card. It was a beautiful New England day, the sun shining brightly. My plan was to print a map of the shells, but I forgot! Although I could have pulled it up on my phone that can be a little cumbersome to view while walking two energetic dogs. So, I photographed the shells we located, and just enjoyed the day. Wilma and Gus loved walking, savoring endless sea smells, and of course some Wilma rolls. Really just what we needed! So glad we can share the Scallop Shells of Plymouth today (this blog will not be rated).

October 2, 2022 – Bruce Freeman Trail (Chelmsford) – Massachusetts

Today Wilma, Gus and I Adventured to the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.  The Bruce Freeman Rail Trail is a twenty five mile Trail that includes the towns of Lowell, Chelmsford, Westford, Carlisle, Acton, Concord, Framingham, and Sudbury.  The Trail is 10 feet in width and is popular for:  biking, skiing, walking, jogging, and rollerblading.

We had a simple adventure to the Bruce Freeman Trail. Although we have been on the Bruce Freeman Trail in other towns, this was our first walk in Chelmsford. We parked at Byam Elementary and off we went. I was disappointed about the weather this weekend but was reminded on today’s adventure that it was the perfect temperature for a walk. We are beginning to see the colors of Autumn which makes me so happy being my favorite time of year. Our walk took us through the woods, past homes, and along a small portion of Heart Pond. We walked and sniffed (haha!) and enjoyed the little details along the journey. There were small signs of fall, remnants of summer blooms, and some unique art on the Trail. Definitely not a nice day for brilliant photographs but a refreshing walk on the Bruce Freeman Trail today (This blog will not be rated.)

September 24, 2022 – Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  Cape Cod is a peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean off the southeastern corner of Massachusetts. It is a popular summer destination known for the laid-back lifestyle. Cape Cod draws tourists for its beaches, lighthouses, ponds, villages, and the seafood shacks and restaurants.

We had a refreshing Adventure to Cape Cod today. It was a gorgeous, windy day, and a lovely day to be on the coast. We stopped at many locations, but our main Adventures included: Chatham Lighthouse Beach, Chatham Lighthouse, Highland Lighthouse, The Cape Cod Rail Trail, the town of Sandwich, Jackknife Cove Beach, the Chatham Godrey Windmill, and a gorgeous no-name beach along Providence Harbor. We started our day arriving at the end of sunrise, and continued long after finding various spots, some planned, and some located along the route. My favorite parts of the day were: the gorgeous water in the Provincetown Harbor, the sand dunes, and strolling along the shore. Wilma loved some rolls, while both pups enjoyed some digging, and finding new smells on the beach. It was just the kind of day I needed today. So glad to Adventure to Cape Code today (this blog will not be rated).

September 24, 2022 – Chatham Lighthouse – Massachusetts

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to the Chatham Lighthouse in Chatham, Massachusetts, part of Cape Cod. The Chatham Lighthouse is a working Lighthouse operated by the Coast Guard. It was originally built as twin lighthouses in 1808, being replaced in 1841, and later separated from the “twin” in 1923. The Lighthouse is only open to the public on days when tours are scheduled, however can be viewed from outside the security gate.

We had a sunrising Adventure to the Chatham Lighthouse. We arrived finding it blocked off as expected, but yet pleased that a view was still available through the fencing. We walked around and checked out the Lighthouse from various angles and crossed the street to admire the sunrise and the gorgeous beach below. The Lighthouse was far from picturesque yet unique in its own way. Due to the limited access, it was a short Adventure. However, since it was our first visit to the Lighthouse, I figured I would blog about it separately so it could be included in our Lighthouse category. Keep watching as there will soon be a blog on our entire day trip to Cape Cod today. So glad we could cross another Lighthouse from our list (This blog will not be rated).

July 31, 2022 – Cherry Hill Ice Cream – Massachusetts

Today Wilma, Gus, My Mom, and I Adventured to Cherry Hill Ice Cream in Townsend, Massachusetts. Cherry Hill Ice Cream has over 70 flavors of ice cream and has indoor and outdoor seating. Cherry Hill Ice Cream also has a location in Lunenburg.

We had a tasty Adventure to Cherry Hill Ice Cream. I have driven by Cherry Hill Ice Cream many times, but finally today was the day to stop and enjoy. The location was very simple, but provided several seating areas for guests. I ordered a root beer float, the pups enjoyed the dog ice cream special (haha), while I cannot remember exactly what my Mom devoured (oops). Wilma and Gus’ ice cream melted very quickly, but they did not seem to mind this watery, thirst-quenching treat inhaling it in record time. So glad to finally check out Cherry Hill Ice Cream today (This blog will not be rated).
