October 22, 2022 – White Mountains – New Hampshire

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The White Mountains are a mountain range that cover a large part of New Hampshire, and also a portion of western Maine. The White Mountains include 48 peaks at over 4,000 feet. The White Mountains are popular for skiing, hiking, and ATVing.

We had a refreshing Adventure to the White Mountains today. I was disappointed to find our locations were far past peak for Fall foliage, but as I look back on our photographs, I am reminded that we did find traces of the brilliant colors of the seasons. Our Adventure today included many walks, exploring, and of course photographs. Wilma seemed especially interested in the water, although barely dipping in her paws is impressive for this girl (haha!). Both pups loved walking, rock jumping, and an outing on this beautiful day! I decided to do some of our favorite locations, including: The Baisin, Echo Lake, the Littleton Riverwalk, Silver Cascades, and Wiley Pond, with several other stops along the route. The day was just right – another Adventure in the books! (This blog will not be rated).

The weekly Video/Photo section highlights an Adventure, while I might also sneak in some that are humorous, adorable, or just other fun dog moments. If you have followed my blog from the beginning you know that I adopted Shadow as a puppy, and about a year later adopted Buster as a puppy. We had many wonderful years together before experiencing the devastating loss of Buster at just seven. It took a long time for our hearts to heal, but almost a year after his passing we welcomed little Wilma into our world. We were devastated to loose Shadow on April 3, 2020.These two precious boys boys will be furever in our hearts! We were recently thrilled to add another amazing rescue, Gus, to our home on June 28, 2021! This Weekly Video/Photo section will allow me to share photos from all four of my rescues, whether it be a precious memory, or a current moment.

Today’s photograph is one of Wilma from last weekend at the Ticonic Footbridge, also known as the Two Cent Bridge crossing the Kennebec River connecting Winslow and Waterville, Maine. The Bridge was quite spectacular, although a dark day to capture the scene. Poor Gus wanted nothing to do with the bridge, so after My Mom took a walk on her own, she sat in the car with Gus so Wilma and I could check it out. Such a good poser – My girl Wilma!

October 15, 2022 – Marsh-Billings Rockefeller Trail System – Vermont

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Park in Woodstock, Vermont. This National Park was named for George Perkins Marsh, and Frederick Billings. George Perkins Marsh was one of the nation’s first global thinkers, while Frederick Billings, was an early conservationist. The park includes: 20 miles of trails, horseback carriage rides, a Victorian mansion, and a museum. It is also a popular location for cross-country skiing in the winter.

We had a marvelous Adventure to Marsh Billings Rockefeller Park on this gorgeous Fall Day. I was so excited to return to Marsh Billings, one of my favorite New England parks, especially eager to see the colors of Autumn. On our Adventure today we mostly explored the trails, including: the Mountain Trail, Poque Loop, and endless side trails. There were many others on the trail, and all dogs we saw, except one were on leash. The colors of the leaves were mostly yellow and orange hues, and the brilliant sun was often shining through the trees. We walked and walked, enjoying the smells and signs of Fall. We spent about four hours hiking and exploring. Although I included a couple photos from the general park area, the majority of the photographs were taken on the trail system. It was an absolutely perfect day and will forever be a special one. So glad we had a day full of exercise, on this perfect Fall Day (Rating: 4.5)

Today’s photograph is of Gus from this weekend in Lubec, Maine! It was a little dark out, but a lovely Harbor area filled with fishing boats and views of the Canadian border. Wilma was exploring on the other side of the rock (haha) so an excuse for a photograph of my boy Gus – isn’t he just adorable?!

October 8-10, 2022 – Eastport, Maine

This weekend Wilma, Gus, My Mom, and I visited and stayed in the town of Eastport, Maine. Eastport, Maine is a coastal town that is the easternmost city in the United States. Eastport is popular for whale watching, shops and restaurants, and an annual Pirate Festival that occurs in September. It also has the deepest port on the East Coast.

We had a relaxing Adventure to Eastport, Maine. We stayed in an Airbnb which was just right for us, clean, and relaxing. We wandered the downtown area several times, enjoying a path along the shore, and various small landmarks on our walks. The town was very quiet, my type of place! Although we enjoyed our visit, it is unlikely that I will return as there were limited activities and activities. However, while we were there, we were able to explore other nearby locations, including: the town of Lubec, and Quoddy State Park. I decided not to blog about the town of Lubec but will include some photographs in future Weekly Photo/Video. Although simple, still glad we could visit Eastport with great company! (This blog will not be rated).

October 9, 2022 – Quoddy Head State Park – Maine

Today Wilma, Gus, My Mom, and I Adventured to Quoddy Head State Park in Lubec, Maine. Quoddy Head State Park is the easternmost point of land in the United States. The Park has almost 550 acres of land, trails, and home of the West Quoddy Head Light House.

We had a gorgeous Adventure to Quoddy Head State Park. I have been wanting to visit Quoddy Head State Park for many years and finally today was the day. We arrived to find many other visitors, but as time went on we realized they were spread out, so it did not seem too busy. We began the West Quoddy Head Light House, a beautiful and unique structure, the brilliant blue sea framing the backdrop. The Light House definitely did not disappoint.

After checking out the Lighthouse we headed down the trail along the shore, providing spectacular views. There were gigantic rocks, water views, and a well-manicured trails. It was so pretty, and peaceful, full of the fragrant smell of evergreens. We walked, took photos and enjoyed every moment of this magnificent park. The pups were wild and energetic, and overjoyed to find new smells throughout. I did not want to leave this magnificent park. A gorgeous day at Quoddy Head State Park and long overdue adventure finding the best of the best. I highly recommend this lovely oasis (Rating: 5).

Today’s photograph is one of the pups with a pumpkin! October is my favorite month of the year due to the many bright colors of Fall and the perfect temperatures. I of course could not resist taking their photograph to start off the month. Here they are, pumpkin pups 🙂 :

October 2, 2022 – Bruce Freeman Trail (Chelmsford) – Massachusetts

Today Wilma, Gus and I Adventured to the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. The Bruce Freeman Rail Trail is a twenty five mile Trail that includes the towns of Lowell, Chelmsford, Westford, Carlisle, Acton, Concord, Framingham, and Sudbury. The Trail is 10 feet in width and is popular for: biking, skiing, walking, jogging, and rollerblading.

We had a simple adventure to the Bruce Freeman Trail. Although we have been on the Bruce Freeman Trail in other towns, this was our first walk in Chelmsford. We parked at Byam Elementary and off we went. I was disappointed about the weather this weekend but was reminded on today’s adventure that it was the perfect temperature for a walk. We are beginning to see the colors of Autumn which makes me so happy being my favorite time of year. Our walk took us through the woods, past homes, and along a small portion of Heart Pond. We walked and sniffed (haha!) and enjoyed the little details along the journey. There were small signs of fall, remnants of summer blooms, and some unique art on the Trail. Definitely not a nice day for brilliant photographs but a refreshing walk on the Bruce Freeman Trail today (This blog will not be rated.)

September 24, 2022 – Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Cape Cod is a peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean off the southeastern corner of Massachusetts. It is a popular summer destination known for the laid-back lifestyle. Cape Cod draws tourists for its beaches, lighthouses, ponds, villages, and the seafood shacks and restaurants.

We had a refreshing Adventure to Cape Cod today. It was a gorgeous, windy day, and a lovely day to be on the coast. We stopped at many locations, but our main Adventures included: Chatham Lighthouse Beach, Chatham Lighthouse, Highland Lighthouse, The Cape Cod Rail Trail, the town of Sandwich, Jackknife Cove Beach, the Chatham Godrey Windmill, and a gorgeous no-name beach along Providence Harbor. We started our day arriving at the end of sunrise, and continued long after finding various spots, some planned, and some located along the route. My favorite parts of the day were: the gorgeous water in the Provincetown Harbor, the sand dunes, and strolling along the shore. Wilma loved some rolls, while both pups enjoyed some digging, and finding new smells on the beach. It was just the kind of day I needed today. So glad to Adventure to Cape Code today (this blog will not be rated).

September 24, 2022 – Chatham Lighthouse – Massachusetts

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to the Chatham Lighthouse in Chatham, Massachusetts, part of Cape Cod. The Chatham Lighthouse is a working Lighthouse operated by the Coast Guard. It was originally built as twin lighthouses in 1808, being replaced in 1841, and later separated from the “twin” in 1923. The Lighthouse is only open to the public on days when tours are scheduled, however can be viewed from outside the security gate.

We had a sunrising Adventure to the Chatham Lighthouse. We arrived finding it blocked off as expected, but yet pleased that a view was still available through the fencing. We walked around and checked out the Lighthouse from various angles and crossed the street to admire the sunrise and the gorgeous beach below. The Lighthouse was far from picturesque yet unique in its own way. Due to the limited access, it was a short Adventure. However, since it was our first visit to the Lighthouse, I figured I would blog about it separately so it could be included in our Lighthouse category. Keep watching as there will soon be a blog on our entire day trip to Cape Cod today. So glad we could cross another Lighthouse from our list (This blog will not be rated).
