May 1, 2021 – Downtown Franklin – New Hampshire

Today Wilma and I Adventured to Downtown Franklin in New Hampshire. Franklin, New Hampshire is in South Central, New Hampshire. It is located at the merging of the Pemigewasset and Winnipesaukee Rivers, and is known for its Mill history. Well known lawyer and statesman Daniel Webster was born in the town of Franklin.

We had a nice Adventure to Downtown Franklin, our second Adventure of the day. Downtown Franklin is a small area that includes churches, businesses, several gas station, and social service agencies. We also walked through Trestle View Park, visited the Sulphite bridge, and explored the beginning of the Winnipesaukee River Trail. These three parts of Downtown I had been to before with Shadow and Buster but it was Wilma’s first visit. We took our time exploring, and were quite pleased to see many colors of spring. The town was quiet, but it was early, so to be expected. My camera only took a couple shots here before the battery officially died but I did my best to capture the feel of this town on my cell phone. Glad we could stretch our legs on our Adventure to Downtown Franklin (This blog will not be rated).

May 1, 2021 – Concord Farmer’s Market – New Hampshire

Today we Adventured to the Concord Farmer’s Market in Concord, New Hampshire. The Concord Farmer’s Market runs from May through October on Saturdays from 8:30-12:00. It is one of the oldest markets in the state, and can be found next to the state house. The Concord Farmer’s Market has up to forty vendors including items such as: fruit, vegetables, plants, cheese, and sauces.

We had a butt wiggling Adventure to the Concord Farmer’s Market (not me – haha). We found this Market by accident and just had to explore, it was one of our four Adventures today. I could not believe Wilma’s excitement in visiting this event, she was wiggling away, attempting to pull all eyes to her adorable self, as she sniffed away. I was quite entertained, and she was quite the popular guest. Wilma absolutely LOVES people and my guess is her joy started when she realized she was surrounded – just adorable. We saw other dog friends, and many people shopping. I almost bought some items but decided to just enjoy the experience. I debated blogging this Adventure, as I did not take too many photographs, not wanting to offend any vendors, and in addition my camera battery had long died. However a good reminder of a dog friendly/family activity. The amazing thing is you can find Farmer’s Markets in just about any town, a wonderful community event (This blog will not be rated).

Throwback Adventure

I have decided to return to posting new “Throwback Adventures” after taking time to re-post some of my favorites with Shadow. This has been a therapeutic process for me to share. We are devastated that both Shadow and Buster have both passed, but find peace knowing we can continue to remember them through our “Throwback Adventures”. They were amazing boys and are forever in our hearts.

I have decided to make some changes to my Throwback section. This is partly because I have had the blog for about two and a half year and each week I have posted an Adventure from before I started the blog. This has become more challenging between finding old photographs, and identifying the location. Although I will still be adding some here and and there I thought I would also use the Throwback Adventure to share past Adventures I have posted. I have new followers, and of course not every follower has been able to view all blogs.

Today’s Throwback Adventure is from Bancroft Castle in Groton, Massachusetts from three years ago. Shadow, Wilma, and I have been to Bancroft Castle on at least two occasions. It is simple but gorgeous. We have loved exploring the details of the “Castle”, wandering on the trails in the area, and appreciating the lovely views. Definitely a hidden gem that I encourage you to explore. Below are two photos from our Adventures, and you can click below for the original blog.

Weekly Video/Photo

I have decided to return to the “normal” Weekly Video/Photo section of my blog. As you likely know we lost Shadow about two months ago and I have been focusing this section on Shadow. However, I have peace knowing I will continue to highlight favorite photographs including Shadow and Buster. The plan will still be to still display a video or photo, usually highlighting an Adventure, while I might also sneak in some that are humorous, adorable, or just other fun dog moments.

If you have followed my blog from the beginning you will know that I adopted Shadow as a puppy, and about a year later adopted Buster as a puppy. We had many wonderful years together before experiencing the devastating loss of Buster at just seven. It took a long time for our hearts to heal, but almost a year later we welcomed little Wilma into our world. We were recently devastated to loose Shadow on April 3, 2020. It is so painful to know Shadow and Buster are both gone, but they will be in our hearts forever!

I am embarrassed to say that I failed at last week’s Weekly Video/Photo. An unusual situation that I was on vacation without Wilma, and my AMAZING parents babysat! I hated leaving her, but I would never leave her in the bottom of a plane for fear of her safety and emotional health. However I have some hopeful plans within the next year for a road trip to Tampa. So today’s photograph is one of Shadow from March 2015. Although this may not be your typical photograph I absolutely love it. Shadow looks so relaxed and is loving this moment in nature – so peaceful! An unusual pose but just perfect. Sure do miss my boy!

April 23, 2021 – Old Orchard Beach – Maine

Yesterday Wilma, My Mom, and I Adventured to Old Orchard Beach in Old Orchard, Maine. Old Orchard beach has seven miles of shoreline, which include an amusement park, restaurants, shops, a boardwalk, and pier. It is a popular summer destination for tourists and rental homes.

We had a refreshing Adventure to Old Orchard Beach. We arrived into town finding a chaotic tourist scene so decided to ditch the idea of the boardwalk and see what else we could locate. I had thought it would still be considered off-season, but apparently the crowds had already invaded. We drove parallel to the coast and soon found a quiet beach. Parking was simple, and off we went. The beach entrance was a scenic pathway lined with gorgeous sea grass. There was a bench at the end of the “boardwalk” and then we found lovely views down the beach. Grateful to find a quiet spot we headed to the water. Wilma loved running, digging, and even rolled for some belly rubs on the beach. We of course did some shell searching, and found some good ones to take home for souvenirs. I am not sure why but I did not expect much from Old Orchard Beach but was pleasantly surprised, once we drove far from the influx of guests. A peaceful and relaxing way to end our vacation before heading home (Rating: 4).

April 24, 2021 – Marine Park – Maine

Yesterday Wilma, My Mom, and I Adventured to Marine Park in Rockport, Maine. Marine Park is a small coastal park providing views of Rockland Harbor. It includes several historical landmarks, including ruins of the limestone kilns and the location for Andre the seal. In addition it is popular for boating, picnicking, and has a small beach for swimming.

We had a sunny Adventure to Marine Park. We drove down a hill to enter this park arriving to find lovely coastal views, the boats bobbing in the sea. We quickly began exploring, trying not to miss any of the sites. The park was filled with many enjoying picnics and others walking their dogs. Dogs are required to be on leash at this location although we did see one dog off leash. Wilma loved the new smells, especially those on and under the dock. She even appreciated some side naps on this extra warm day. The park was very small but we found lots of color, history, and beautiful views on the water. So glad we were able to Adventure to the Marine Park (Rating: 3.5)

April 23, 2021 – Bass Head Lighthouse – Maine

Yesterday Wilma, My Mom, and I Adventured to Bass Harbor Lighthouse. The Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse is a Lighthouse located in the Acadia National Park in Tremont, Maine. It was built in 1858, is 56 feet in height, and is made of brick. It is currently an active lighthouse.

We had a sun-setting Adventure to the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. Although the sunset was just about out of sight, we still were able to appreciate the pink colors of the sky. We first wandered over to the Lighthouse, before checking out the distant view from the Lighthouse from the rocks. There were many visitors at this location making it difficult to take as many photos as preferred. However, we were glad to see the Bass Lighthouse for the second time. A beautiful way to end the day in Acadia (Rating: 4).

April 23, 2021 – Acadia National Park – Maine

Yesterday Wilma, My Mom, and I Adventured to Acadia National Park in Maine. Acadia National Park is a Park in Northeastern Maine that encompasses half of Mount Desert Island, and also is situated on the Schoodic Peninsula and Isle au Haut. It is 47,000 acres and popular for fall foliage seekers, winter skiing, spring fishing and hiking.

We had a scenic Adventure to Acadia National Park. I was thrilled to return to Acadia National Park, one of the most gorgeous locations in New England. Although I had some issues with my camera to capture these Adventures, the experience was just spectacular. Our locations included Jordan Pond, Sandy Beach, Cadillac Mountain, the Otter Cliffs, and other look-outs and unnamed locations. My favorite stops were Jordan Pond, and Cadillac Mountain, the beauty of these locations cannot be described in words. We were so lucky to have a sunny and warm day with gusty winds at time. We enjoyed lots of walking, photography, and made lasting memories. I am already looking forward to my next visit. A wonderful day in Acadia National Park (This blog will not be rated).

April 22, 2021 – Boothbay Harbor – Maine

Yesterday Wilma, My Mom, and I Adventured to Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Boothbay Harbor is a coastal town in mid-coast Maine. Boothbay Harbor has many shops and restaurants, and is a popular boating and tourist town in the summer months. It is also known for being a dog-friendly destination

We had a gusty Adventure to Boothbay Harbor. I was excited to visit Boothbay Harbor as I have been curious about this town for some time. We parked right next to a map and began exploring. Upon arrival we found a quiet location and many shops and restaurants closed for the season. We walked around the town, my Mom did some shopping, we found some sculptures, and especially enjoyed the views of the boats and the water. We found a long footbridge across an inlet, which provided lovely scenes along the water. It was a dark day with some flurries, and before we left the wind became more intense adding a chill to the air. However we loved exploring a new location, and were quite pleased to appreciate it without the bustle of the summer tourists. As expected Wilma enjoyed this adventure, although did not at all appreciate when her Grandmother entered a store. However she sad nearby the entrance eagerly awaiting her return, just so sweet. So glad we could explore the coastal town of Boothbay Harbor (This blog will not be rated).

Throwback Adventure

Today’s Throwback Adventure is from the Meredith Sculpture Walk. This is a place we have been many times but this blog captures our first Adventure to this unique and beautiful location. On this day Shadow, Wilma, and I made sure to explore the entire sculpture walk, and enjoyed every minute. The sculpture walk weaves through the town and along the gorgeous waterfront.
