April 23, 2021 – Bass Head Lighthouse – Maine

Yesterday Wilma, My Mom, and I Adventured to Bass Harbor Lighthouse. The Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse is a Lighthouse located in the Acadia National Park in Tremont, Maine.  It was built in 1858, is 56 feet in height, and is made of brick.  It is currently an active lighthouse.

We had a sun-setting Adventure to the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. Although the sunset was just about out of sight, we still were able to appreciate the pink colors of the sky. We first wandered over to the Lighthouse, before checking out the distant view from the Lighthouse from the rocks. There were many visitors at this location making it difficult to take as many photos as preferred. However, we were glad to see the Bass Lighthouse for the second time. A beautiful way to end the day in Acadia (Rating: 4).

April 23, 2021 – Acadia National Park – Maine

Yesterday Wilma, My Mom, and I Adventured to Acadia National Park in Maine. Acadia National Park is a Park in Northeastern Maine that encompasses half of Mount Desert Island, and also is situated on the Schoodic Peninsula and Isle au Haut. It is 47,000 acres and popular for fall foliage seekers, winter skiing, spring fishing and hiking.

We had a scenic Adventure to Acadia National Park. I was thrilled to return to Acadia National Park, one of the most gorgeous locations in New England. Although I had some issues with my camera to capture these Adventures, the experience was just spectacular. Our locations included Jordan Pond, Sandy Beach, Cadillac Mountain, the Otter Cliffs, and other look-outs and unnamed locations. My favorite stops were Jordan Pond, and Cadillac Mountain, the beauty of these locations cannot be described in words. We were so lucky to have a sunny and warm day with gusty winds at time. We enjoyed lots of walking, photography, and made lasting memories. I am already looking forward to my next visit. A wonderful day in Acadia National Park (This blog will not be rated).

April 22, 2021 – Boothbay Harbor – Maine

Yesterday Wilma, My Mom, and I Adventured to Boothbay Harbor, Maine. Boothbay Harbor is a coastal town in mid-coast Maine. Boothbay Harbor has many shops and restaurants, and is a popular boating and tourist town in the summer months. It is also known for being a dog-friendly destination

We had a gusty Adventure to Boothbay Harbor. I was excited to visit Boothbay Harbor as I have been curious about this town for some time. We parked right next to a map and began exploring. Upon arrival we found a quiet location and many shops and restaurants closed for the season. We walked around the town, my Mom did some shopping, we found some sculptures, and especially enjoyed the views of the boats and the water. We found a long footbridge across an inlet, which provided lovely scenes along the water. It was a dark day with some flurries, and before we left the wind became more intense adding a chill to the air. However we loved exploring a new location, and were quite pleased to appreciate it without the bustle of the summer tourists. As expected Wilma enjoyed this adventure, although did not at all appreciate when her Grandmother entered a store. However she sad nearby the entrance eagerly awaiting her return, just so sweet. So glad we could explore the coastal town of Boothbay Harbor (This blog will not be rated).

Throwback Adventure – Shore Path – Maine

I have decided to return to posting new “Throwback Adventures” after taking time to re-post some of my favorites with Shadow.  This has been a therapeutic process for me to share.  We are devastated that both Shadow and Buster have both passed, but find peace knowing we can continue to remember them through our “Throwback Adventures”.  They were amazing boys and are forever in our hearts.

I have decided to make some changes to my Throwback section. This is partly because I have had the blog for about two and a half year and each week I have posted an Adventure from before I started the blog. This has become more challenging between finding old photographs, and identifying the location. Although I will still be adding some here and and there I thought I would also use the Throwback Adventure to share past Adventures I have posted. I have new followers, and of course not every follower has been able to view all blogs.

Today I am posting a new Throwback Adventure! These photographs are from a trip My Mom, Buster, Shadow and I took to Shore Path in Bar Harbor Maine in August 2015. The Shore Path was originally built in 1880 and follows the Frenchman Bay, the eastern shore of Mount Desert Island. It provides views of various highlights, including several Island.

We had a gorgeous Adventure to Shore Path. We found this location accidentally and it did not disappoint. Our visit was on a foggy day, but yet that did not impact the beauty of the coast. We enjoyed seeing the boats floating in the Bay, the flowers lining the shore, and even a photographic run. Special memories of this wonderful location (This blog will not be rating).

March 14, 2021 – Back Cove Trail – Maine

Wilma and I Adventured to Back Cove Trail in Portland, Maine. Back Cove Trail is a popular loop trail that is almost four miles in length. The trail circles Back Cove, and ranges from paved to gravel. There are benches along the route, and several water fountains available in-season. The trail is popular for biking, walking, running, and dog walking.

We had a gusty Adventure to Back Cove Trail. I am thankful that I am officially fully-vaccinated allowing me entrance into Maine. We look forward to continuing our Adventures outside of Massachusetts starting with this Adventure to Back Trail Cove. I believe I located Back Cove Trail initially just spotting it while driving through the area. I was surprised to find the Trail quiet empty, but also quite shocked at how frigid the wind was at times. Wilma did not seem to mind the chilly weather, although occasionally was surprised by a sign moving in the wind. We walked and walked, finding mileage markers along the route. I loved seeing the ice on the edges of the water, and into the Cove. Overall there was not much to see but it was nice to walk in a new location. Wilma loved walking, watching the ducks, and enjoyed some rolls. I was disappointed that part of the Trail was closed due to construction but did our best to explore this Trail. We might just have to return to the Back Cove Trail in the nicer weather (Rating: 3).

October 31, 2020 – York, Maine

Today Wilma and I spent the day in York, Maine. York is a coastal town in Southern, Maine. It contains: York Harbor, Cape Neddick, York Village and York Beach. It is known for the summer resorts, beaches, golf courses, shopping, and the famous Nubble Lighthouse.

We had a beautiful Adventure to York, Maine. I decided to Adventure to places we have been to previously. Our stops included: Old York, Long Sands Beach, Ellis Park, Short Sands Beach, the Wiggly Bridge, Fisherman’s Walk, Sayward-Wheeler House, and Nubble Lighthouse. We walked and walked, ran on the beach, stopped to watch the crashing waves, searched for any last colors from Fall, and followed Wilma’s little nose in whatever direction she chose. The sun was out, and it was the perfect temperature complete with a gusty coastal breeze. Such a beautiful coastal day in York. So glad Shadow and Buster were able to visit these locations too. See below for a photo collage of our spectacular day: (Rating: 4)

October 18, 2020 – Marshall Point Lighthouse – Maine

Today Wilma and I Adventured to the Marshall Point Lighthouse in Port Clyde, Maine. The Marshall Point Lighthouse is located on the St. George Peninsula in Midcoast Maine. It was built in 1858. The property includes the Lighthouse, a museum and gift shop, and the Keeper’s home.

We had a relaxing Adventure to the Marshal Point Lighthouse. I was surprised, yet pleased to find parking at the Lighthouse as I had read that we would find a small lot. We immediately wandered over to the Lighthouse, it was beautiful. Due to the other visitors and a photographer set up at the walkway we began by exploring the rocks and under the Lighthouse. The rocks were uniquely grooved and textured adding lovely character to the scene. We took our time, and I was careful not to slip on the wet rocks. We then explored the opposite side before having our turn to wander down the walkway. The sun impacted the photographs, but definitely not the experience. Marshall Point Lighthouse reminded me of our recent visit to Doubling Point Lighthouse, although Marshall Point Lighthouse provided more opportunity to explore. Such a peaceful location. So glad we could Adventure to the Marshal Point Lighthouse today (Rating: 4).

October 18, 2020 – Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse – Maine

Today Wilma and I Adventured to the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse in Rockland Maine. The Rockland Lighthouse is located at the end of a an almost one mile breakwater in Rockland, Harbor. The Lighthouse was built in 1902, and is attached to the home of the Lightkeeper.

Wilma and I had a fascinating Adventure to the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse. I had been interested in visiting this Lighthouse for some time so was thrilled for today’s Adventure. Upon arrival I was quite surprised about the endless number of parked cars, causing me to contemplate returning another time. However, we carried on and headed toward the Breakwater to analyze the situation. I was shocked when I spotted the Breakwater as although I knew it was long, I could not believe the expansive sight. We wandered down a short path before turning onto the breakwater. There were many people in attendance but due to the size of the breakwater everyone was reasonably spread out and there was enough space for two ways of traffic.

We headed down the Breakwater, barely even seeing the Lighthouse from afar. I was excited to begin this journey on this spectacular Fall day. I was careful to watch my footing, and glad Wilma is quite agile, even as her nose led the way. We walked and walked appreciating the unusual experience, the sun shining on the bright blue sea. As we walked I began to think about the water, often seeming to lap over the edge, and quite level with the Breakwater. Eventually I became disappointed to see that the Breakwater did not arrive at the Lighthouse, and soon discovered that the Breakwater was actually washed out! We walked as far as possible and stopped to take some photographs before returning back. On the way back my attention was drawn to the lovely Fall foliage along the shore. So although we never officially made it to the Rockland Lighthouse we sure did our best. We just will have to return again in the future to get the full experience, and up-close Lighthouse photographs (This blog will not be rated).

October 18, 2020 – Camden, Maine

Today Wilma and I Adventured to Camden, Maine. Camden is located in Midcoast Maine, on the Penobscot Bay. It is popular for Camden Hills State Park, Mount Battie, the Harbor, shops and restaurants, and numerous lodging options.

We had a coastal Adventure to the town of Camden, Maine on our weekend away. We walked throughout the town, thankful that the sun was finally out after a weekend of rain. In various spots the sun was shining through the perfect fall foliage creating a picturesque scene. We trotted around the Harbor area, located Meguniticook Falls, appreciated the colorful mountains from afar, found several parks and loved the library grounds with various little features including a gazebo. The weather was just right for Fall, and our early morning walk ensured a less then bustling hub that you would find later in the day. Such a nice surprise to explore the lovely town of Camden (This Adventure will not be rated).

October 17, 2020 – Acadia National Park – Maine

Yesterday Wilma and I Adventured to Acadia National Park in Maine.

We had a spectacular Adventure to Acadia National Park. I was thrilled line up a day at this gorgeous location. Although I had planned to arise early and head for sunrise, the torrential downpours dampened my plans and we instead headed out in the afternoon. The beginning of our afternoon was rainy, but it eventually cleared up and the sun came out for the sunset. Due to the uncertain weather I decided to explore some of our favorites and more predictable locations versus some new locations of which I originally had planned. Our afternoon included: Thunder Hole, Otter Point, Jordan Pond, Sandy Beach, parts of the Ocean Path and various other stops along the route. My favorite parts of day was the thunderous Fall breeze, the amazing coastal views, seeing a rainbow, and the beautiful Jordan Pond. Wilma’s favorites part of the afternoon were: running on the beach, the smells of the beach, lots of walking, and really every moment of exploring. Acadia National Park is one of the most breathtaking places in New England. I really cannot get enough and hope to return again in the future (Rating: 5).
