December 2, 2018 – Tasty Dog Cookies

Today Shadow, Wilma, and I decided to make some dog cookies. As you may notice, if you follow my blog, our new and fancy Adventures slow down a bit as we get into the early to dark evenings, and the winter weather. However, there are many other things we do that I do not blog about, including: daily neighborhood walks, trips to the pet store, other local walks, Adventures to places we have already blogged about, and visiting our amazing family.

So today I thought I would blog about one of our fun “other” moments, enjoyable Tasty Dog Cookies. I started with finding a recipe online, with some healthy dog ingredients, and then tracked down my cookie cutters, including a squirrel for Wilma, a fire hydrant for Shadow, and a bone for all. Although quite disappointing in presentation, there was no lack of anticipation. Don’t tell Wilma Mae, but I let Shadow sample a couple of cookies, while she was out back stalking squirrels. Not one complaint! Wilma soon was able to sample some of her own, displaying a full bundle of enthusiasm. I even decided to make some people cookies for myself and our company tonight, making quite a perfect addition to our evening. I saved some of the dough for a future night of delicious cookies. So although we will likely plan for a different recipe on our next cookie Adventure, our appetites were satisfied.

Photo and Video Update

I noticed when updating my blog that photographs and videos have been removed from my posts. I am looking into the matter, but believe this might be because I have deleted various items from storage to clear up space to add many more! I will be contacting Word Press to hopefully resolve this matter. However it appears that there was just one post where all of the photos were removed, so I have just added them back to that particular blog. I guess sometimes I just take too many photographs… We sure do enjoy our Adventures!

News – Shadow’s Surgery

So today was a tough day for Shadow, and Wilma as I, as Shadow had surgery to remove a tumor on his leg. Although I did not prefer for him to have surgery, the procedure was reasonably simple (yet still serious surgery), and necessary to provide continued functioning and the health of his leg. We are expecting to return to our Adventures in a couple weeks, as Shadow will need to rest before returning to our active lifestyle. Shadow is so brave, and strong. I often refer to as my gentle giant. The anticipation, and surgery day was tough, but the surgery went well, and we are on to recovery. Please keep him in your thoughts, and wish us luck with our wild little Wilma as we change our lifestyle to one of rest! We will be back!

News

I am writing to inform my followers that today I will be having surgery, which sadly will lead to a short lull in our adventures.  It has been a scary medical summer, which finally has ended in negative test results, but needed surgery.  I am grateful that up until now I have been able to push through it all and keep on our adventures.  Exploring New England with Shadow and Wilma has been the greatest therapy I can ask for during this challenging time.  They have kept me motivated, and smiling while facing this unexpected life detour.  So, hopefully just for a couple weeks our adventures will be on hold, but we will be eager to be off again soon.  Thank you for following our blog and/or visiting/viewing.  We look forward to the return of our adventures.

PS – Don’t forget our “Throwback Thursday Adventure” – which will continue!

Adoption Anniversary!

One year ago, Shadow and I, adopted the amazing Wilma Mae from a local rescue agency agency.  A suspected lab/hound, and the wild one of her pack of three, this Alabama lady stole our hearts.  There of course were moments of adjustments, but Shadow and Wilma quickly became best buds.  Wilma immediately joined us on our adventures, and journeys, and fit in perfectly to our active lifestyle.

Thankfully Shadow and Wilma balance one another well.  They enjoy playing, sunbathing together, and are often found sleeping in synchronized position.  Wilma longs to be just like Shadow, following his every move.  I often hear people say Wilma is keeping Shadow “young” at heart, and although I initially felt this an odd statement, I do see how her energy inspires him.  Although a high energy, and often stubborn puppy, there is no doubt that Wilma is our perfect puppy.  We celebrate this wonderful anniversary today, with of course some photographs to share with our followers.

I encourage that you consider rescuing a dog, as they will be your best friend, always loyal, and loving.  I have been going through some medical challenges recently, and Shadow and Wilma have provided me constant therapy, smiles, and encouragement.  They keep me active, and motivated.  My world became a better place when I became a dog Mom.  Celebrating our adoption anniversary today!
