Weekly Video/Photo

I have decided to return to the “normal” Weekly Video/Photo section of my blog.  As you likely know we lost Shadow about two months ago and I have been focusing this section on Shadow.  However, I have peace knowing I will continue to highlight favorite photographs including Shadow and Buster.  The plan will still be to still display a video or photo, usually highlighting an Adventure, while I might also sneak in some that are humorous, adorable, or just other fun dog moments.

If you have followed my blog from the beginning you will know that I adopted Shadow as a puppy, and about a year later adopted Buster as a puppy.  We had many wonderful years together before experiencing the devastating loss of Buster at just seven.  It took a long time for our hearts to heal, but almost a year later we welcomed little Wilma into our world.  We were recently devastated to loose Shadow on April 3, 2020.  It is so painful to know Shadow and Buster are both gone, but they will be in our hearts forever!

Today’s Weekly photo is a photograph of Shadow, Buster, and their little friend Rex. It is a little dark, but still captures a perfect scene. We went to visit my friend and little Rex and these three were the best of friends. It was somewhat chaotic at times as they had too much fun running around the house. Love how dogs of all sizes can be the best of friends. I will always miss my special boys! Here they are:

May 28, 2021 – Johnson’s Restaurant and Dairy Bar – Massachusetts

Yesterday Wilma and I Adventured to Johnson’s Restaurant and Dairy Bar in Groton, Massachusetts. Johnson’s Restaurant and Dairy Bar sells home-made ice cream, lunch, and dinner. There is outdoor seating for dining, and take-out is also available.

We had a tasty Adventure to Johnson’s Restaurant and Dairy Bar. Both Wilma and I were quite thrilled to have our first ice cream Adventure of the season. We were pleased to arrive with no line. Johnson’s did not have any dog specific ice cream but recommended soft serve vanilla for my sweet Wilma, and I ordered a sherbert drink. Wilma watched her ice cream very closely on the counter, hopeful girl. After our order was filled we headed to one of the many seating options up on the shady hill. Wilma inhaled her ice cream while I sipped my refreshing drink. It was amazing watching how fast her ice cream was gone! Johnson’s was simple, no fancy decor, but had great options for seating, some in the shade, some in the sun, and a more formal patio area. This made the perfect environment for us to enjoy our treat. So glad we could visit Johnson’s Restaurant and Dairy Bar (Rating: 3).

Throwback Adventure

I have decided to return to posting new “Throwback Adventures” after taking time to re-post some of my favorites with Shadow.  This has been a therapeutic process for me to share.  We are devastated that both Shadow and Buster have both passed, but find peace knowing we can continue to remember them through our “Throwback Adventures”.  They were amazing boys and are forever in our hearts.

I have decided to make some changes to my Throwback section. This is partly because I have had the blog for about two and a half year and each week I have posted an Adventure from before I started the blog. This has become more challenging between finding old photographs, and identifying the location. Although I will still be adding some here and and there I thought I would also use the Throwback Adventure to share past Adventures I have posted. I have new followers, and of course not every follower has been able to view all blogs.

I am disappointed to say I forgot to post a Throwback Adventure last week, but I guess we are on to the next. Today’s Throwback Adventure is from Mansfield Hollow State Park in Mansfield, Connecticut almost three years ago. I remember loving the green grass, watching the Shadow and Wilma rolls, Shadow enjoying some swimming, and hiking in various terrains. There was lots of green, and little visitors. Below you will see a couple quick highlights, but see my original blog for more photographs and videos at: Mansfield Hollow State Park

Today’s Weekly photo is a puppy photograph of Wilma and I when she was much smaller and lighter (haha). She was moving when this was snapped but I still love it! It seems like long ago that she was so small. Here is my and my sweet girl!

Today’s photograph is an autumn snapshot of Shadow and Buster. These boys were the best of friends, and my partners in crime. So glad that I was able to capture endless photographs to cherish the many adventures.

Today’s photograph is a snapshot of Wilma that I actually took tonight as we were walking through one of our favorite local towns. It seemed like the perfect place for a pose, so why not! Here she is, my girl!

Today’s Throwback Adventure is from Ashland State Park with Shadow and Wilma three years ago. We have only been to this park once but I have great memories of this park. We went for a very long walk, enjoyed lots of socialization with other pups, and of course Shadow loved some swims. We even found a turtle, and a waterfall. Great memories of our Adventure to Ashland State Park. See below for some highlights, and click on the link below to see the original blog:

Today’s photograph is an adorable photo of Shadow and Wilma, approximately a week after we adopted little Wilma. She was such a tiny little thing. She was so lucky to have a kind, big brother to show her the ropes. A perfect pose of a perfect pair!

Today’s Throwback Adventure is from Bancroft Castle in Groton, Massachusetts from three years ago. Shadow, Wilma, and I have been to Bancroft Castle on at least two occasions. It is simple but gorgeous. We have loved exploring the details of the “Castle”, wandering on the trails in the area, and appreciating the lovely views. Definitely a hidden gem that I encourage you to explore. Below are two photos from our Adventures, and you can click below for the original blog.

I am embarrassed to say that I failed at last week’s Weekly Video/Photo. An unusual situation that I was on vacation without Wilma, and my AMAZING parents babysat! I hated leaving her, but I would never leave her in the bottom of a plane for fear of her safety and emotional health. However I have some hopeful plans within the next year for a road trip to Tampa. So today’s photograph is one of Shadow from March 2015. Although this may not be your typical photograph I absolutely love it. Shadow looks so relaxed and is loving this moment in nature – so peaceful! An unusual pose but just perfect. Sure do miss my boy!
