December 10, 2022 – Fitz Hugh Lane Park – Massachusetts

Yesterday Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to Fitz Hugh Lane Park in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Fitz Hugh Lane Park includes the Fitz Hugh Lane House. This Home is a historical home built by the artist Fitz High Lane in 1849. The home is on top of a small hill providing views of the harbor.

We had a simple Adventure to Fitz Hugh Lane Park. We spent about two hours walking around Gloucester and made a stop at this park on our travels. We have been here before, but today I thought I would write a short blog about it. Upon arrival we strolled to the top and walked every inch of the location. It was a dark and dreary day out, with limited color throughout. We found a beautiful wreath, endless pinecones, plaques with information, stone benches, and a statue of Fitz Hugh Lane. Although a very small park, still a nice little stop along the route. Glad we could visit Fitz Hugh Lane Park today (This blog will not be rated).

The weekly Video/Photo section highlights an Adventure, while I might also sneak in some that are humorous, adorable, or just other fun dog moments. If you have followed my blog from the beginning you know that I adopted Shadow as a puppy, and about a year later adopted Buster as a puppy.  We had many wonderful years together before experiencing the devastating loss of Buster at just seven.  It took a long time for our hearts to heal, but almost a year after his passing we welcomed little Wilma into our world.  We were devastated to loose Shadow on April 3, 2020.These two precious boys will be furever in our hearts! We were recently thrilled to add another amazing rescue, Gus, to our home on June 28, 2021! This Weekly Video/Photo section will allow me to share photos from all four of my rescues, whether it be a precious memory, or a current moment.

I thought this month I would share some of my favorite past holiday photos and possibly videos for the Weekly Video/Photo segment. As many of you may know I love creating fun holiday cards and photographs of my pups, which started many years ago with Shadow and Buster. This process can be quite entertaining, but often comes out just right. Today’s photograph is one of Shadow and Wilma when Wilma was a puppy, approximately eight months old. They are just adorable! Shadow was definitely king of the top-hat! Here they are:

December 4, 2022 – Saulnier Memorial Bike Trail – Massachusetts

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to the Saulnier Memorial Bike Trail in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The Saulnier Memorial Bike Trail is a 3.5 paved path that passes through the South Peninsula of New Bedford, provides views of Clark Cove, New Bedford Harbor, and Buzzards Bay, and passes landmarks including: Fort Taber Park, West Beach, East Beach, and Fort Taber Park.

We had a refreshing Adventure to the Saulnier Memorial Bike Trail. Although not the cleanest city, I have grown to love the walking opportunities and landmarks in this unique town. I was planning on beginning in Hazelwood Park but after seeing signs indicating “no dogs” we decided to park at Fort Taber Park. The map I located online was a little confusing but we traversed the majority of this Trail.

Throughout our walk I especially enjoyed the gorgeous Fort Rodman, coastal views, and lots of little details including colorful benches, endless shells, and endless breakwaters. The sun was shining brightly, just right for this early winter day. Both Wilma and Gus enjoyed exploring and walking high above the path. It was a lovely day for an outing with my two best buds (Rating: 4).

Todays photograph is one of Wilma and Gus from this past weekend’s trip to Plymouth. They were posing on a bench high above a lovely coastal scene. I think this has been one of my favorite places in Plymouth to take photos. This picture might be a repeat for friends and family, but I had to share with my followers. Here they are:

November 26, 2022 – The Scallop Shells of Plymouth, MA

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to the beautiful town of Plymouth, Massachusetts. We spent three hours walking this lovely coastal town. Plymouth is a coastal town in southern Massachusetts. It is famous for the history of being the first Pilgrim settlement in 1620. Since I have blogged about Plymouth before, yet still was inspired to share I thought I would blog about the Public Art Display of the Scallop Shells. These works of art are displayed throughout the waterfront and downtown Plymouth. They have been created from fiberglass and crafted from local artists.

We had a refreshing Adventure to Plymouth. It has been soo long since we had a “normal” Adventure, or even a local walk as I was fighting Bronchitis and some additional symptoms for over a month. I finally feel better with just a cough here and there so off we went. I absolutely love walking in Plymouth, including: the coastal scenery, a river walk with tunnel art, the grist mill, a pond with a bridge and ducks, shops and restaurants decorated for the season, and many historical landmarks. We spent three hours walking, posing, and working on our favorite holiday Christmas card. It was a beautiful New England day, the sun shining brightly. My plan was to print a map of the shells, but I forgot! Although I could have pulled it up on my phone that can be a little cumbersome to view while walking two energetic dogs. So, I photographed the shells we located, and just enjoyed the day. Wilma and Gus loved walking, savoring endless sea smells, and of course some Wilma rolls. Really just what we needed! So glad we can share the Scallop Shells of Plymouth today (this blog will not be rated).

Todays photograph is one of Wilma from one of our local walks early this month. I was actually taking a shot of Wilma and Gus but Gus had more exciting things to watch (haha!). Wilma was quite focused so the perfect Weekly Photo. Here she is:

Today’s photograph is one of sweet Gus cuddled by my side. I have been quite sick for almost a month now and Wilma and Gus have been taking great care of me, laying closely, making me laugh, and keeping me going. I think very slowly things are turning around and I am hoping we will be on a new Adventure soon. So grateful for the amazing therapy these two have provided me. Here is one of sweet Gus:

Other Tidbits, Fun, and News

I am excited to announce that I will be adding a new category to my Menu, New England Rail Trails!! I have been to many Rail Trails over the years so thought it was time to add this category. I am hoping that I did not miss any, but there is always a chance of that. Most blogs are adventures on just the Rail Trail, however some of the blogs include them as part of the Adventure. I have been sick for over two weeks now and have been miserable this weekend. Therefore, I thought this was a good time to add this category having no new blogs to share.

I decided to pick a variety of photographs from these blogs and create a collage below. We have explored Rail Trails in all seasons and found quite the variety of scenery from bridges to sculptures to wood to lakes, and much more. Wilma definitely has been the queen of the Rail Trails, having been to the majority of Trails. However, I believe the first one I discovered was when I resided in Pepperell and enjoyed the local Rail Trail regularly with Shadow and Buster. Gus has been to many, and I am sure there will be more to come. Below you will see the direct link, however you can also find this category in the menu.

Today’s photograph is one of Wilma and Gus playing tug of war. I have loved watching these two bond, playing more and more every day. They enjoy tug of war, keep away, and running throughout the yard. Although Gus often is the initiator in these play sessions, Wilma too begins the fun. It has been just so special to watch this pair grow to perfection. Here they are, in action:

October 29, 2022 – Gillette Castle State Park – Connecticut

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to Gillette Castle State Park in East Haddam, Connecticut. Gillette Castle was once the estate of William Gillette, a famous Actor in the early 1900’s. It was later bought by the state of Connecticut. The Park includes a visitor center, museum, hiking trails, and picnic area. There are even live theater events and walking tours available to visitors.

We had a wonderful Adventure to Gillette Castle State Park. I debated posting this as I have blogged about Gillette Castle State Park previously, but the last time was over two years ago. In addition, Gillette Castle State Park is one of my favorites, so I decided why not post!?

I was excited to return for the Fall season, but yet was disappointed that it appeared past peak colors. However I still found the park beautiful! One of my favorite parts of this Park is exploring the trails, which are often quiet, as the main feature is the castle. The trails are just lovely filled with boulders, water views, lovely trees, unique bridges and ponds. We spent about two and a half hours walking and walking, just perfect. It was a beautiful fall day, the sun shining through the trees. Wilma and Gus loved hiking, exploring, and posing for cheese (yes cheese – haha!). It has been a tough week as I have bene sick, but these two keep me going, and kept me smiling. So glad we could Adventure to Gillette Castle State Park today (This blog will not be rated).
