January 7, 2021 – Gus’ First Snow Storm

Today Gus finally got to see his first real snow! We have had ice, slush and flurries but today was the first fluffy, plowable snow, totaling just about six inches. Gus was quite curious at first but soon warmed up and had a blast! Wilma and Gus spent most of their time playing ball, keep away, and searching for the ball in the snow. We also made sure to enjoy some cuddles and warm, cozy naps on this snowy day! A wonderful day of fun…just need to work on training them to shovel (haha)!

Time for some videos….

Weekly Video/Photo

If you follow my blog regularly please skip down to paragraph three….

The weekly Video/Photo section highlights an Adventure, while I might also sneak in some that are humorous, adorable, or just other fun dog moments. If you have followed my blog from the beginning you know that I adopted Shadow as a puppy, and about a year later adopted Buster as a puppy.  We had many wonderful years together before experiencing the devastating loss of Buster at just seven.  It took a long time for our hearts to heal, but almost a year after his passing we welcomed little Wilma into our world.  We were devastated to loose Shadow on April 3, 2020.These two precious boys boys will be furever in our hearts! We were recently thrilled to add another amazing rescue, Gus, to our home on June 28, 2021! This Weekly Video/Photo section will allow me to share photos from all four of my rescues, whether it be a precious memory, or a current moment.

Today’s photograph is one I took last week of Wilma and Gus in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Plymouth is lovely walking town which we visit every so often. I spotted this coastal Christmas tree from afar and of course could not resist posing my adorable pair at this location. If you live locally make sure you take some time to check out Plymouth. Other Tidbits, Fun, and News

I just wanted to give a quick update on my blog. For those who follow us regularly you may be aware I have been slacking on my Weekly Photo and Throwback sections. I have been disappointed in myself but there has been alot going on around me, distracting me from this consistency. I have decided to temporarily discontinue the Throwback blog as I have had some time to share old blogs. However on occasion I may add, or share one, but will not plan on having this as a weekly blog. I will get back to my Weekly Photo/Video posting. I guess this is as close to a New Year’s resolution as I get (haha)! Looking forward to sharing some old and new photos and videos!

January 1, 2022 – Donuts!

Today Wilma and Gus enjoyed a Dunkin Donuts donut! Unfortunately I have a slight addiction to Dunkin Donuts coffee. On occasion while ordering through the drive thru they offer the pups a donut. On our visit today they actually provided us two in a bag, so I took this treats home for them to enjoy. Honestly, I only gave them each half as it really does not seem like they need to be eating an entire donut. However they were more than pleased and Gus took some time trying to figure out how to best devour this unique treat.

I have lost my creativity for new adventures this week. Can you tell it has been raining for days? (haha!) Although I can promise we still took a rainy, local walk before stopping at Dunkin Donuts. Here they are…yum yum!

December 28, 2021 – Lighthouse Point Park – Connecticut

Yesterday Wilma, Gus, and I adventured to Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven, Connecticut. Lighthouse Point Park is an 82-acre park that includes: a beach, a carousel, a splash park, and the New Haven Light House, also known as Five Mile Point Light. In the distance from the park, you can see views of downtown New Haven, and the Southwest Ledge Lighthouse.

We had a simple adventure to Lighthouse Point Park. I had been curious about this park, and the New Haven Lighthouse for some time and yesterday was the day. I was excited to head off on a new adventure as we have mostly been visiting local favorites in recent weeks. Lighthouse Point Park was one of several adventures of the day, but our only new site.

Upon arrival we immediately located the Lighthouse in the distance. We began heading down a road and traversed a trail along the coast. I did not research maps online, so we just wandered with our eyes and snouts (haha). The sky was lovely, adding some good character to the day. It was an unusually warm day for New England, almost heating up to 50…so bizarre! We walked around making sure not to miss one corner of the park. We spent a lot of time circling the lighthouse and taking photographs. It has been a long time since I have been able to see a new lighthouse and was glad, I finally could add that to our adventures. Unfortunately, dogs were not allowed on the beach, but Gus found a little area along the trail to enjoy some quick digging, Wilma joining in for a few. On this adventure Wilma especially enjoyed some rolls and was excited to see other visitors, hopeful for some attention. We saw many out walking, the majority of dogs on leash. So glad we could finally get to Lighthouse Point Park (Rating: 3.5)

December 20, 2021 – Downtown Norwich, Connecticut

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to Downtown Norwich, Connecticut. Norwich is the where the Yantic, Shetucket, and the Quinebaug flow into the Thames River. It is home to a minor league baseball team, the Norwich Sea Unicorns.

We had a random adventure to Downtown Norwich. I was disappointed to have to change my adventure plans for the weekend due to a mini–New England snowstorm. Therefore, I decided to check out Norwich, a town I had always been curious about. We arrived and found parking easily. It was a windy day, and there were limited people out and about. We walked around locating city hall, some shop and restaurants, and a riverside park. I was disappointed to see a sign indicated no dogs allowed at the park, as there appeared to be a nice trail paralleling the river.

Although we spent a good amount of time wandering and walking the town, there was little to be found of interest. One thing I did appreciate was various paintings on cement barriers around the city. Throughout our visit we encountered many people who appeared to be transient, and others who begging for money. Although I had not thoroughly researched Norwich, I was surprised to find this was the theme of our visit today. Far from a lovely visit, but we still were able to get a good walk in before heading to a familiar park. Glad I will no longer be curious about the town of Norwich (This blog will not be rated).

December 12, 2021 – Gus Meets Santa

Today we were excited to do a photo shoot with Santa! This was Gus’ first time meeting Santa! I was not sure what to expect as Gus is often nervous around those he does not know let alone someone so magical (haha!) However I thought it would be fun, and love these holiday photos so thought we would attempt this meeting. Gus was a little nervous but I was surprised that he was pretty brave. He did not want to get too close to Santa, however warmed up a bit, and I would guess if it was not a very short visit he likely would have ended up in his lap.

As expected Wilma was the perfect poser, and was quite eager to eat the treats provided by Santa and his reindeer. I am not sure why I find these kind of events and photos so entertaining, but I just love these moments and snapshots.

I wanted to thank Quite Fetching Barkery and Pet Boutique in Grafton, Massachusetts! They not only host events like meetings with Santa Clause they also have amazing cakes, and a shop. Definitely check them out if you are a crazy dog mama like me!

December 5, 2021 – Endless Leaves

This weekend Wilma, Gus, and I went on long local walks, in order to give me time to catch up on the endless leaves and my yard. We were lucky that the weather was warmer than it could be this time of year. Wilma and Gus loved playing ball, running and chasing, sharing sticks, keep away with the balls and toys, and lounging in the sun. It really was a refreshing weekend although I only have fifteen bags done, and still many more to go. I figured I would share some fun photos of this perfect pair, enjoying being outside. Cheers to the endless leaves!
