February 22 and 23, 2023 – Downtown Nantucket

This week Wilma, Gus, My Mom, and I Adventured to Downtown Nantucket. Downtown Nantucket is a coastal area filled with shops, cobblestone streets, restaurants and water views. The location is immediately off the ferry landing.

We had a cobble-stone filled Adventure in Downtown Nantucket. We spent about one hour walking around the area, and several other times stopped for short visits. We worked to find the little details, as we trotted around. My favorite parts were some of the water scenes, and getting some good exercise while exploring. So glad we could visit Downtown Nantucket this week (This blog will not be rated.)

Gus Turns Two!!

We are so excited to celebrate the Birthday of our amazing boy Gus! We had a wonderful trip to Nantucket this week so celebrated before and along the way! I bought him a fancy cake, and although he was not a fan of wearing the party hat while eating, we used it to decorate his little table. Gus was a little unsure of the cake at first but soon started devouring every bite! We saved some layers for Wilma and partied hard (haha)! (This cake was made by the amazing Quite Fetching Barkery in Grafton!) Grandma and Grandpa even over some new toys – just so fun!

We continued the celebration in Nantucket, enjoying endless walks and adventures! Gus posed in his hat like a trooper, and Wilma joined in the party. The sun even came out in Nantucket today, on his big day!

Gus has been such a special joy in our lives. He loves to play, cuddle with his loved ones, exploring on all of our adventures, and racing around the yard. We could not be happier that he is part of our family.

Happy Birthday Sweet Gus!

PS – There will soon be some adventure posts on Nantucket!

February 4, 2023 – Negative Temperatures = A Day at Home

As my fellow New Englanders know today, we were hit with frigid temperatures! It was -11 when we woke up, with even colder wind chills. I therefore decided today would be a day of dog fun at home. Wilma and Gus enjoyed: find the treat games, bones, toys, and nice warm naps! They went out here and there for quick spells and loved running around not seeming to be too phased by the weather. So glad these two could be warm on this frigid winter day.

The weekly Video/Photo section highlights an Adventure, while I might also sneak in some that are humorous, adorable, or just other fun dog moments. If you have followed my blog from the beginning you know that I adopted Shadow as a puppy, and about a year later adopted Buster as a puppy.  We had many wonderful years together before experiencing the devastating loss of Buster at just seven.  It took a long time for our hearts to heal, but almost a year after his passing we welcomed little Wilma into our world.  We were devastated to loose Shadow on April 3, 2020.These two precious boys will be furever in our hearts! We were recently thrilled to add another amazing rescue, Gus, to our home on June 28, 2021! This Weekly Video/Photo section will allow me to share photos from all four of my rescues, whether it be a precious memory, or a current moment.

Today’s photograph is one of sweet Shadow on a trip in the White Mountains. Shadow was such a gentle soul, and this is the perfect photograph showing him looking at me with his kind eyes. I am so glad he lived a long, active, and loved life but we sure do miss him! Here he is:

Today’s photograph is one of sweet Gus from our recent visit to the Cape. He absolutely loves digging in the sand, and I caught of a bit of the sand on his nose after a joyful dig. He is such a good listener which provided quite the perfect pose. We sure do love this little guy! Here he is, Gus:

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from Wilma, Gus, and I!! We had a wonderful Christmas day and hope you and yours did as well! We had a nice walk in the morning before getting ready for company. I had given Wilma and Gus all of their Christmas toys early – oops, but they are lucky to be spoiled by their Grandma and Grandpa who brought them toys and treats. They enjoyed naps, extra love, playing with their toys, and tricks for treats (haha)! The photos below you will see a collage of some from today, and leading up to the holidays. We are looking forward to a week of vacation!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!

December 18, 2022 – Lynn Shore Drive and Red Rock Park – Massachusetts

Today Wilma, Gus, and I Adventured to Lynn Shore Drive and Red Rock Park in Lynn, Massachusetts. Lynn Shore Drive starts at King’s Beach in Swampscott and ends at Nahant Beach which begins the causeway to Nahant. The pathway is paved and borders the ocean, passing beaches including Lynn Beach. It has benches along the way and provides views of Egg Rock, Nahant Bay, and distant views of the Boston Skyline.

We had a refreshing Adventure to this coastal pathway. I have had my eyes on it since we visited Nahant Reservation and was eager to check it out. We parked street side at King’s Beach and off we went. The morning sun added a lovely addition to the beautiful shore. We spent a little time on the beach where Gus enjoyed some digging and Wilma attempted some playing. However we mostly trotted down the paved trail. The dogs were overly intrigued by the smells but Wilma did enjoy a roll or two along the route. She was also obsessed with walking above the trail and when doing so walker at a speedy pace. I found this quite entertaining! You might not expect lovely scenery in the city of Lynn but definitely a great trail worth the visit (Rating: 3.5)

I thought this month I would share some of my favorite past holiday photos and possibly videos for the Weekly Video/Photo segment. As many of you may know I love creating fun holiday cards and photographs of my pups, which started many years ago with Shadow and Buster. This process can be quite entertaining, but often comes out just right. Today’s photograph is one of Buster, kind of a blooper shot but I still love it. This is one of the first photo shoots I remember. As I was taking photos we had many other visitors to the beach stop to smile, laugh, and even ask if they could take photographs. I remember my northern friends saying how the white sand almost looked like snow. Although it is not the clearest photograph it is one that will always be special to me. Here is sweet Buster, he sure is missed:
